Rap artist Eminem has added his support to US Democrat candidate Barack Obama in the forthcoming US presidential election.
The hip hop artist, currently gearing up to release his autobiography ‘The Way I Am’ in the UK, was interviewed on Radio 1 when he revealed his support. The rapper was asked by host Zane Lowe if he would be voting for Obama, and he was in no doubt.
“I’ll vote for Barack,” he said. “I can’t get too political because I don’t know enough.”
“I mean, I know we are going into a recession. Pardon the cliché but we need something to change. I think Barack would be a breath of fresh air, to get in there and actually get what’s left of the Bush administration out the door.”
Obama has received an almost unanimous thumbs up from the American musical fraternity, with artists as diverse as Bruce Springsteen, My Morning Jacket and Vampire Weekend performing benefits for the Democrat candidate.
Eminem has also revealed that his forthcoming album ‘Relapse’ will be produced by long time collaborator Dr Dre.
