US rapper, film star and modern day Renaissance man Eminem is set to get his story straight in his forthcoming autobiography ‘The Way I Am’.
The hip hop star has been largely silent for nearly three years, which in the new book Eminem attributes to the death of his best friend and mentor Proof in 2006. However, US magazine Rolling Stone reports that the rapper is on the way back, quoting the forthcoming book as saying:
“I’ve been recording the new album mainly in the crib. Makes it very easy for me. It’s like the old days, only there’s a lot more than a rusty four-track in my basement.”
The forthcoming autobiography deals with the rapper’s childhood torment at the hand of bullies, as well as his absent father. It does contain some revelations – Eminem’s blonde hair is apparently the result of an ecstasy bender, the rapper also hints at a romance with Mariah Carey.
However, lovers of celebrity scandal will be left disappointed by an extensive section on his sneaker collection, as well as his battles with Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.
But the most moving part of the book of Eminem’s battle with depression. Writing on the period after the death of his friend Proof, he says:
“It was a year before I could really do anything normal again. I had days where I couldn’t walk, let alone write a rhyme. This is the biggest tragedy I could imagine, aside from something happening to my kids.”
