One of America’s most controversial musical icons returns later this year, with Eminem releasing two albums which fellow rapper 50 Cent claims are closely linked.
Eminem emerged with his multi-platinum album ‘The Real Slim Shady’ in 2000, scandalising middle America in the process. One of the most widely discussed figures in American cultural life, Eminem has been silent since 2004’s ‘Encore’ album.
In interviews last year Eminem began suggesting that he was working on a new album. His autobiography ‘The Way I Am’ was released in 2008, seemingly clearing the way for the rapper to approach the future.
Eminem will release two albums in 2009. In a new interview close friend 50 Cent claimed “one is great. It’s a treat. But the second one is exciting.”
“Actually, it was my idea for him to release two albums, because he had so much material over a time period” he told MTV. “The (second album) kind of feels like a sequel. They’re both written to one album topic almost, that it felt like part one and part two of the (same album). They tie together.”
Both Eminem and 50 Cent are set to release two albums each in 2009 – all four have been produced by Dr Dre.
