Emile Sande has shot into the charts at number one with her debut album ‘Our Version Of Events’.
Hailing from Aberdeen, Emile Sande began to make waves late last year. With her soulful voice and hook heavy material, the singer was immediately tipped to crack the mainstream.
Well, it seems like for one the tipsters go it right on the money. Released last week, Emile Sande’s debut album ‘Our Version Of Events’ has proved to be immediately popular with fans. Pre-order sales pushed the singer into the charts, and with the momentum behind her the Scottish singer has seized control of the number one slot.
Knocking Lana Del Rey to number two, the American singer remains just ahead of Adele. Spending some 56 weeks on the charts, ’21’ has never once dropped out of the Top Ten with Grammy success seeming to rejuvenate the album.
Gotye’s debut album ‘Making Mirrors’ has entered the charts at number four, while Ed Sheeran remains a strong seller at five.
Passing away last week, Whitney Houston’s ‘Greatest Hits’ collection has predictably re-entered the charts. Mourning fans have rushed to pick up the compilation, which includes some of her record breaking singles.
The albums chart is largely devoid of new talent, although Field Music have made a small impression. ‘Plumb’ – given ‘Album Of The Week’ on ClashMusic – has entered the charts at number 49.
