Elvis Costello has re-united with his teenage band Rusty.
The songwriter worked as part of Allan Mayes’ Liverpool rock band Rusty in the early 70s, joining the line up in 1972.
The band toured extensively, with the musician – then known as D.P. MacManus – becoming a key member.
Sadly Rusty never made it to a recoding studio, but they've re-united to lay down their debut album – some 50 years in the making.
'The Resurrection of Rust' is out on June 10th, with Elvis Costello saying it is “the record we would have cut when we were 18, if anyone had let us.”
Produced by Costello and Sebastian Krys, the record features a total of six songs drawn from Rusty's 1972 set lists.
Initially available from the merch stall on Elvis Costello's current tour dates, the album goes on general release from June 10th.
