Elton John On Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber

Legendary singer sits down with Zane Lowe...

Elton John appeared on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 show last night (January 19th) and spoke of his admiration for Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Adele and more.

The legendary songwriter was ostensibly discussing new record 'Wonderful Crazy Night', but the conversation quickly entered much broader territory.

Zane Lowe asked if Elton worried about chart success: "I had 34 years of having a top 40 single every year and then you get to a certain age where you don’t get played on the radio now as a singles artist."

The singer is a fan of A$AP Rocky's Rod Stewart-sampling single 'Everyday', and is enjoying the new record from Christine & The Queens.

Elton was recently in the studio with Lady Gaga, and has thus far contributed to two songs on her new record. The singer wasn't a fan of 'Artpop', and wants her to make an album like Carole King's 'Tapestry': "I think she’s a great writer, to me she’s Stefani Germanotta, I love her and I care about her, she’s Godmother to my two children."

Discussing Ed Sheeran's enormous success, Elton also lavished praise on Justin Bieber: "Skrillex gave him credibility and he’s a great singer."

Reflecting on Adele's recent return, the singer mused: "By the time she’s got something ready people are genuinely excited. It’s like Star Wars. Adele’s record is like an occasion. There aren’t that many occasions in life anymore."
