Ellie Bleach Conjures A Filmic Atmosphere With ‘Lakehouse’

Out now on Sad Club Records...

Indie singer songwriter Ellie Bleach has released her second single ‘Lakehouse’.

The new release follows her 2022 EP, ‘No Elegant Way To Sell Out’. ‘Lakehouse’ – released on Sad Club Records – is a track where Bleach is in the character of a housewife driving to a lake house trying to salvage her relationship with her husband. However, the song hints at darkness with lyrics such as “it’s dangerous in the country darling”, and “wring the neck of what we used to be…”

She explains that “[She] loves creating characters who are repressing or restraining something primal, so it feels fitting to suggest the wife’s jealousy could turn murderous…”. The Lana Del Ray-like darkness in the lyrics combined with the lap steel and indie guitar creates a great unique new sound.

The Lakehouse is paired with a beautiful visualiser of flowers and a hand with a wedding ring on a steering wheel. Which perfectly captures the main essences of the song. Ellie Bleach can be seen at The Sebright Arm’s with Gabe Coulter as well as playing on two shows in Girl Ray’s upcoming tour in November.

Tune in now.
