Brighton based indie group Elle Milano have announced that they are splitting up, in a statement sent to fans on the social networking site Myspace.
The three piece released their debut album ‘Acres Of Dead Space Cadets’ earlier this year through the indie label Brighton Electric. There had been much speculation over the band’s future after the group cancelled a support slot with Hot Club De Paris.
Elle Milano gathered a cult following due to their art rock sound and humorous song titles. A recent single was titled ‘Laughing All The Way To The Plank’ while a past EP was named ‘Swearing’s For Art Students’.
The statement from the band reads:
“So you know, Elle Milano has called it a day. There is no simple explanation why, but the writing’s been on the wall for quite a while. We somewhat lost the magic we used to have and regretfully the band’s just come to a big brick wall against our will.”
“The recent silence and cancellation of gigs was down to a family tragedy in my (Adam Crisp’s) life, and was nothing band related, however now it feels as though the time is right to move on and try something new. We are all on good terms. I’ve been doing stuff by myself as Entrepreneurs recently, so keep and eye on that if you’re interested. When future projects by any of us come together i’ll put links up here…”
