Eleni Drake Shares Divine ‘Let It Go And Let It Be’

Ahead of her Great Escape slot...

Greek/British songwriter Eleni Drake has shared her enchanting new song ‘Let It Go And Let It Be’.

The London-based songwriter made a deep impression on CLASH, with the team catching her play a special British Music Embassy set in Austin, Texas. We quickly caught up with her after the show, and found a humble artist with big plans.

A new EP is slated to land this summer, with Eleni Drake scheduled to play The Great Escape in Brighton later this month.

Ahead of this, she’s guided new single ‘Let it Go And Let It Be’ out into the cosmos. A wonderful slow-burner of a song, it blends the influence of Mazzy Star, say, with some sumptuous southern soul aspects.

Kind of the middle ground between Hope Sandeval and Ann Peebles, it retains her distinct identity. Eleni’s first for new label home MNRK, you can also catch her supporting Jess Williamson at St Martins in the Fields Church in London on August 29th.

Eleni comments…

“I wanted there to be a real relaxed flare to this song, kind of like brushing something off, almost living in a state of bliss. What is the point of devoting time, care, love into someone – be it friendship or partnership – only for you to be taken for granted, or for them to paint you out to be someone you are not. I know who I am, and the qualities I possess, that I have kindness and love to give, but I will not be used or taken for granted”.

Tune in now.
