Electrifying Club Night To Finish

Legendary Manchester club night Electric Chair will finish in January, it has been announced. Set up by The Undabombers, Luke Cowdrey and Justin Crawford, the DJs have called it quits after 13 years of legendary party sessions. Often compared to the Hacienda due to its incredible atmosphere, the club has hosted some of the top DJs form around the world including such luminaries as Mr Scruff, Aim and Andrew Weatherall to name but a few.

The residents ‘pick and mix’ policy of including any genre that took their fancy saw anything from house to hip hop to northern soul rocking the dancefloor, creating genuine excitment for both club-goers and DJs. With its eclectic mix of styles, Electric Chair became popular with clubbers form both the North and South of England.

To celebrate its demise, a mix- album entitled “Electric Chair RIP” will be released, accompanied by a 12 inch containing some of the nights biggest tunes. The last Electric Chair night will take place on January 26th 2008, and this sold out seven months in advance. A Yule-time special has been planned for December 29th, and this will feature a huge array of guest DJs spinning five of their favourite tracks. Guests include Mr Scruff, Benji B, Rob Wilson and Balearic Mike.
