Award winning Bury group Elbow have started recording their new album on the Scottish island of Mull.
Elbow are riding the crest of a wave after being named ‘Best British Group’ at the recent BRIT awards. The band’s acclaimed album ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’ raced back into the top ten as a result.
Dedicated to a close friend who had recently died, ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’ is perhaps the band’s finest to date. Topping end of year polls, the band have played numerous acclaimed tours of the nation in support of it.
The group’s most successful record to date, the album scooped the Mercury Music Prize amid emotional scenes.
Elbow have been planning how to top that achievement, and in a recent interview claimed they would make an album for children backed by an animated film.
Guy Garvey told Scottish newspaper The Daily Record the band have begun sessions in the Western Isles. “We’ve just been recording some new material in Mull, which is the most beautiful place on Earth” he said.
The band have previously retreated to the island to work on their previous three albums.
There is no release date for Elbow’s new album.
