Bury band Elbow have yet another prestigious trophy to add to their haul after scooping ‘Best British Group’ at this year’s Brit Award ceremony.
Nominated for two awards, this was the first time Elbow had attended the ceremony. The band’s ‘Seldom Seen Kid’ album was highly praised, and previously stunned onlookers by grabbing the Mercury Music Prize.
Against tough competition including Radiohead and Coldplay, Elbow prevailed scooping ‘Best British Group’ at the Earl’s Court ceremony. Bizarrely, the band were given the award by former ‘Knight Rider’ and ‘Baywatch’ star David Hasselhoff.
Frontman Guy Garvey claimed this was the highlight of his night quipping “you wouldn’t believe how long it’s taken us to get this close to The Hoff”.
Elsewhere at the Brits American singer Katy Perry vomited backstage. The faux lesbit had been complaining of feeling unwell throughout the ceremony before picking up ‘Best International Female.
The singer was apparently overcome with emotion, and reportedly spewed backstage. Nice!
