Brighton types Egyptian Blue return with punchy new single 'Salt'.
The band's opening pair of EPs marked them out from the pack, fusing wiry post-punk riffs with stubbornly anthemic songwriting.
Work on their debut album is ongoing, and the full LP is set to land in 2022 through YALA! Records.
New single 'Salt' erupts out of the starting blocks, with singer Andy Buss chanting: “I’ve been chasing my own tail, laughing out of every single pore, don’t wanna talk about it…”
The frontman explains: “the song came from a series of anxiety dreams containing monotonous behaviours that felt like walls closing in. That sense of chasing my own tail. Jumping into the dark pit of the pandemic only served to heighten this”.
He continues: “I’d been reading this book called ‘On Solitude’ by Michel De Montaigne and we’d been discussing it on a slow ferry to Dublin. When I wrote ‘Salt’, seeing the world as a feverish dream, the book resonated with my sense that we can cover-up emotions and nervous energy with a veil of pretending to be OK”.
An urgent piece of songwriting, the intense element of 'Salt' pushes Egyptian Blue to another level.
Tune in now.
