Egyptian Blue have shared new rocket ‘Geisha’.
The band showed incredible promise over their opening two EPs – 2019’s ‘Collateral Damage’ and 2020’s ‘Body Of Itch’ – before hitting the road for an epic tour alongside Foals. Returning to the studio, Egyptian Blue began to pick apart their sound, probing future pathways in the process.
Out now on YALA! Records, new single ‘Geisha’ represents a quantum leap forward for the band – jagged in that Gang of Four sense, it’s also devoutly pop, while retaining its surreal roots.
Songwriting that works on a three-dimensional level, ‘Geisha’ is one of the best things Egyptian Blue have put their name against. Probing, ambitious, and tonnes of fun, the song balances studio prowess with live energy.
Frontman Andy Buss comments…
“It’s a change in our sound. I recorded it on my laptop, brought it to the band and Isaac shifted the rhythm of it completely. Initially that shift changed my feelings about the track, but we persisted and it became a completely new entity in the studio. Now it’s one of our favourites and we wanted it to be the first track back. Lyrically it’s about coming to terms with an incessant cycle of day turning into night; where beautiful parts of life can become bleak so quickly…”
