American group Eels are to complete a trilogy of albums with the release of ‘Tomorrow Morning’.
Eels had always worked hard. Releasing a string of studio albums, the four year break after ‘Blinking Lights And Other Revelations’ took fans by surprise.
Initially put down to tour fatigue, or even providing the space singer E needed to craft his memoirs, it now seems that the band were planning. In an announcement today (May 20th) Eels revealed that they are set to release the final instalment of an album trilogy later this summer.
Beginning with ‘Hombre Lobo’ in June 2009, the trilogy runs through ‘End Times’ and now ‘Tomorrow Morning’. While ‘End Times’ was a stark, acoustic, largely solo affair the new album is a band recording.
Completing the trilogy, little has been revealed about the album itself. Representing a vastly ambitious musical ark, Eels have confirmed details of a new world tour to coincide with the album.
Opening on August 3rd in Santa Ana, the new tour is the first the band have undertaken since the release of ‘Hombre Lobo’. Set to contain material from all three albums in the trilogy, the tour will travel across the world.
Taking in shows in the United States, Japan, Australia and more Eels will hit Europe later this year. Planning to perform at V Festival, Eels are also due to play two headline shows in Glasgow and Birmingham.
