Eels Take Revenge On London

After terrorist accusations

Eels singer Mark ‘E’ Everett has revealed his revenge on London after being accused of being a terrorist.

Completing their recent trilogy of albums earlier this year, Eels had earned the right to relax after a hectic period of productivity. Talking a stroll outside his London hotel, Mark ‘E’ Everett was stopped by police.

Found loitering outside an international embassy, E’s unkempt appearance and long beard marked him out as a terrorist – according to police at any rate.

One of the year’s most bizarre news stories, the incident clearly cut deep into the singer. Returning to London to film his latest video, E decided to turn the city into a toytown as part of his revenge.

The single is taken from his latest album ‘Tomorrow Morning’, which completed his ambitious songwriting trilogy. A redemptive, euphoric work it may well be his most accomplished effort in a decade.

Eels are now set to release ‘Baby Loves Me’, an ecstatic garage rocker. Filmed in London, the video shows E wandering around an enormous toytown. Speaking to the NME the singer explained that the shoot felt like revenge.

“It’s my way of saying ‘Thanks for making me feel bad by accusing me of being a terrorist in Hyde Park this June. I’ll show you. I’ll make your city look like a toy’.”

Continuing, Mark ‘E’ Everett said that he’s not sure where the idea came from. “All I know is sometimes I’m big, sometimes I’m small, and sometimes I’m really, really tiny,” he said.

“Kind of like how I feel from day to day. And I see a lot of the world in this video, much like I do on our world tour right now.”

Eels are not the only band to suffer from over zealous policing. Fellow American group The National were detained at an airport, while Explosions In The Sky were famously prevented from boarding an airplane after 9/11.
