Ed Sheeran’s ‘Perfect’ Was The Most-Played Wedding Song In 2023

Well, in the UK at least...

Ed Sheeran wrote the UK’s most-playing wedding song in 2023.

The songwriter’s romantic hymn ‘Perfect’ has long been a modern wedding staple, a moment of tenderness from the English artist. Often picked as the first dance soundtrack, ‘Perfect’ is packed with those staple Ed Sheeran ear-worms.

According to a study from Encore Musicians – using a base of more than 3000 events – ‘Perfect’ was the most-played wedding song in the UK over the past 12 months. So, if you’ve been at some nuptials in Swansea, Suffolk, Stranraer, or Strabane, then chances are you’ve heard this ginger lothario.

Following closely behind is John Legend’s Grammy award-winning record, ‘All of Me’, while third place is occupied by the immortal Elvis Presley and his brooding ballad ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’.

Fourth place? That’s the inescapable Ed Sheeran, with his equally loved-up song ‘Thinking Out Loud’.

It’s been a big year for Ed Sheeran, who fought – and won – some high profile copyright cases. Alongside this, he’s also shared two full length projects – the emotional ‘-‘ ended his mathematical series on a sombre note of introspection, while ‘Autumn Variations’ continued his association with producer Aaron Dessner.
