Ed Sheeran To Install Anti-Rough Sleeping Measures At London Home

Railings will be placed outside his converted home in Kensington and Chelsea...

Ed Sheeran has won permission to install anti-rough sleeping measures at his West London home.

The move was first reported earlier this year, with Kensington and Chelsea Borough council rejecting the initial application to create a stone plinth key fob and four feet high railings.

Deemed "too domestic" for the ultra-expensive West London postcode, Ed Sheeran hit out at reports the refurbishment was aimed at preventing homeless people sleeping outside his house.

He told The Sun:

"Your story is bollocks, I have done lots of work in the past for crisis and shelter and would never build railings outside my home for that reason. The reason was to keep the paps that you employ from being on my doorstep. Have a good day."

A renewed application has now been successful, with NME noting that the final form does include a notice that it will "help to deter rough sleeping".

It reads: "The combination of Portland stone plinth and the railings will help to deter rough sleeping, avoid the collection of rubbish blown on to the concrete surfaced area and provide a desirable level of security without requiring compromises to the internal plan-form of the building…"

Pedestrian gates and cast iron railings will now be installed outside his converted home in Kensington and Chelsea later this year.
