Ed Harcourt will release new album ‘El Magnifico’ on March 29th.
The songwriter is perpetually creative, his studio hub reverberating with ideas. New album ‘El Magnifico’ promises to be something special, emerging from a vortex of fresh songs.
Out on March 29th, it was entirely self-produced at his own Wolf Cabin studios, while producer Dave Izumi Lynch assisted on finishing touches at Eastbourne’s Echo Zoo Studio.
Featuring 12 new songs, the album is led by new single ‘Strange Beauty’. The title is apt – there’s an other-worldliness to Ed Harcourt’s songwriting, something enhanced by the Steve Gullick directed video.
The clip was actually show in Almeria, Southern Spain – Europe’s only natural desert, it was the setting for (most) of those classic Spaghetti Westerns.
Ed Harcourt comments…
A song that uses visceral imagery to convey that classic old feeling of love and the immense power it has. I think that even after being a reckless, naive romantic after all these years, I still want to describe how violently mad it can make one feel. It’s about escapism, there’s an us against the world aspect, not adhering to the confines of society I guess. The song was written a while back and then lurked in a drawer for a few years…then I gave it the kiss of life and it sprung back with magnificent vigour!
Tune in now.
