Echo Lake are amongst the four acts assembled for a new 7 inch on Marshall Teller Records.
Based in North London, Marshall Teller Records have built up a cult following in a short space of time. Issuing their first release just under 12 months ago, the imprint have become a by-word in new British talent.
Looking to their 1st anniversary, Marshall Teller Records are preparing a new 7 inch. Four tracks from four bands, the upcoming release comes equipped with a song from dream pop newcomers Echo Lake.
The London band began life as a bedroom project. Spurred on by their early success, debut EP ‘Young Silence’ was rewarded with critical acclaim while a video by Dan Nixon mirrored the fragility of the music.
Donating a track to the new 7 inch, Echo Lake will be joined by fellow fast risers Novella whose mixture of fuzzed up guitars and girl group harmonies is busy updating the ethics of C86 for a 2011 aesthetic.
Elsewhere, The History Of Apple Pie prove that the influence of the early 90s has not diminished. The band have a real J Mascis style grit to their guitars, but add a feminine touch which was sadly lacking in the golden era of grunge.
Finally, Gross Magic round out the quartet. Snapped up by Fat Possum, the band’s debut EP has already caused a stir with new cut ‘Yesterdays’ showing a similarly distorted take on the perfect pop formula.
