Easy Star All-Stars Share David Bowie Salute ‘Ziggy Stardub’

And they're going on tour this summer...

Reggae crew Easy Star All-Stars have shared their new David Bowie salute ‘Ziggy Stardub’.

Arguably the high water mark of David Bowie’s glam phase, ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars’ remains a key moment in rock’s evolution. Daring, stylish gender-destroying pop music, it spawned a legion of imitators but has never been truly surpassed.

Soundsystem collective Easy Star All-Stars are fans, and decided to put a reggae slant on Bowie’s iconic work. Out now, ‘Ziggy Stardub’ is a radical re-working, one that sits in their lineage of previous releases focussing on Pink Floyd, Radiohead, and others.

Out now, ‘Ziggy Stardub’ features a glorious cast, making room for Maxi Priest, Steel Pulse, Fishbone, Alex Lifeson (Rush), Vernon Reid (Living Colour), The Skints, Mortimer, The Expanders, Samory I, and many others.

Lead singles included their neat twist on ‘Starman’ – alongside Maxi Priest – and the Naomi Cowan propelled ‘Moonage Daydream’.

Founder Michael Goldwasser comments…

“The main key was finding an emotive and ground-breaking vocalist, and we did just that with Macy Gray, who is truly inimitable in every song that she sings, including this one.”

Tune in now.
