Welsh singer Duffy has stunned the audience at the Brits with a wonderful performance before waltzing away with three trophies.
The little girl from the valleys came good last night, winning a stunning three gongs at the Brits.
Little more than a year ago Duffy was almost completely unknown, yet after the success of ‘Mercy’ and album ‘Rockferry’ the blonde singer sits at the top of the musical world.
Duffy picked up ‘Best Album’ along with ‘Best British Female’ and ‘Best British Breakthrough Act’. For the final award of the night, ‘Best Album’, Duffy came onstage to collect her trophy from fellow Welsh singer Duffy.
In an emotional acceptance speech Duffy claimed she had worked for five years to reach this point.
“I just want you to know, I travelled this whole country for five years, playing my songs to old ladies and everybody,” she said. “I can’t tell you what this means. For five years… Just thank you so much!”
It was a successful night for the ‘Rockferry’ team – producer Bernard Butler’s victory at the Producer’s Guild awards means he also picks up a Brit.
