"My heart is broken..."

Drake has shared his first statement following the tragic events at AstroWorld.

The rapper joined founder and headliner Travis Scott for a surprise appearance during his headline set, a performance marred by tragedy in the crowd.

A severe crush caused eight fatalities, with 100s left injured as medical services on-site were overwhelmed.

Drake was named in a subsequent lawsuit, and has now shared his first statement following the tragedy.

“I’ve spent the past few days trying to wrap my mind around this devastating tragedy,” Drake wrote. “I hate resorting to this platform to express an emotion as delicate as grief but this is where I find myself. My heart is broken for the families and friends of those who lost their lives and for anyone who is suffering. I will continue to pray for all of them, and will be of service in any way I can, May God be with you all.”

Meanwhile, sources have revealed that a Houston Police Chief visited Travis Scott in his trailer to express concerns over the crowd before his headline set.

Two criminal investigations have been launched into the events at AstroWorld - three law suits have already been launched.
