Download: The Minutes – Secret History

Taken from their debut album...

The Minutes have handed ClashMusic a free download stripped from their debut album.

Whatever happened to rock ‘n’ roll? Somewhere along the line, the power and glory of guitar, bass, drums and vocals has been undermined, sold out by groups not even worthy to breathe on a Les Paul.

Making music since they were kids, The Minutes have rock ‘n’ roll in their veins. The band’s riotous live shows put them on the map, before the trio flew out to New York to lay down their debut album.

Setting aside five days, the band recorded straight on reel to reel. Refusing to slow down, The Minutes nailed the entire album in under a week with Kevin McMahon overseeing the whirlwind process.

Named ‘Marcata’ – after the up state studio the trio used – the album is set to be released on January 30th. Dublin’s Model Citizen Records are set to handle the release, which will be available on CD as well as a digital download.

Throwing a few hints and previews along the way, The Minutes have sent round a track to Clash HQ. ‘Secret History’ is all helter skelter riffs, gama lama chords and yob chants masquerading as vocals.

Lasting for a mere one minute forty five seconds – and that includes a fade out – ‘Secret History’ seems to run off sheer nervous energy.

The Minutes are set to release ‘Marcata’ on January 30th. Looking ahead, the lil charmers have announced plans for a Valentines Single on February 13th – titled, of all things, ‘Heartbreaker’…
