Gruff Rhys has made brand new track ‘Shark Ridden Waters’ available as a free download.
Sharks are bloody scary. So quite why Gruff Rhys has taken deadly fish as his inspiration on a brand new track is beyond us. Yet, thus inspired, the Welsh songwriter has given a glimpse of his new album.
Once again retreating from Super Furry Animals, Gruff Rhys recorded a series of tracks earlier this year. Following on from his work with Brazilian TV repairman Tony Da Gatorra, the Welsh songwriter is in a more pastoral mood.
The forthcoming album is almost finished, with Gruff Rhys set to release new material in February 2011. Cinematic pop music, ‘Shark Ridden Waters’ will become the first track to be released from the new album.
Due to gain a physical release on November 8th, the track will be available on limited edition 12 inch vinyl. However, fans who can’t wait that long are in for a treat courtesy of the world wide web.

Meanwhile, Gruff Rhys is set to preview the album on a series of stripped back live dates. Opening in Copenhagen on November 10th, the tour hits Ireland on November 13th before the singer comes to the UK.
Dates in Manchester and Glasgow are set to follow before the Welsh songwriter hits London’s Toynbee Studios on November 23rd.
