The Decemberists have placed a track from their forthcoming album on their website as a free download.
Hailing from Portland, The Decemberists are a continually evolving collective. Mixing literature, folk song and near orchestral arrangements the band’s music is continually striving to move forward.
Last year’s album ‘Hazards Of Love’ was a stirring return, with The Decemberists on typically ambitious form. Receiving critical plaudits, the band surprised fans by revealing that they were set to head straight back into the studio.
R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck worked with the band on their new material, revealing to press that work was progressing nicely. Playing a handful of live shows, The Decemberists dropped in a number of new tracks.
Now details of their forthcoming album have been confirmed. ‘The King Is Dead’ is set to be released on January 18th, reports Pitchfork, with the full ten song tracklisting being officially confirmed.
