London’s hyperactive new band of synth poppers My Toys Like Me have been given a techno overhaul by dance producer Timo Maas.
Attracting attention with a series of spectacular shows that often find the group flinging themselves around on stage like small kids after a barrel of Sunny D, My Toys Like Me are set to storm 2009.
Currently putting the finishing touches to their debut album ‘Where We Are’, the band have found no problems translating their frenetic live sound to the studio.
The four piece are lead by dramatic singer Frances Noon, who powerful voice screams over the top of a thrilling synth rackets. The group’s cover of the Van Morrison classic ‘The Way Young Lovers Do’ is a case in point – stunning vocals rising above an 8-bit clatter.
Timo Mass dramatically re-works the band’s forthcoming single into 18 minutes of stunning minimal techno, uniquely percussive yet retaining the distinctive sound of My Toys Like Me.
