Doldrums Builds A Message Of Comfort On ‘Machine Boi’

New album 'Esc' is incoming...

Montreal noise pop artist Doldrums has shared new cut 'Machine Boi'.

The electronic artist is due to release new album 'Esc' later this year, another forward step from a composer who thrives on progression.

Clash is able to premiere new cut 'Machine Boi', and it acts as the Venn diagram between noise and pop, between children's fiction and adult ennui.

Curiously melodic while remaining thoroughly abstract, it's another deeply individual piece from an artist who remains steadfastly idiosyncratic.

Doldrums explains: "'Machine Boi' is a song to comfort someone who wants to give up, has been made to feel less than human. His tears rust him dry and he is forced to adapt. I read this book The Empty Fortress about a young boy who was convinced he had to run power from outlets to his body to perform basic functions. He thought he was a part of the power system and not a person, referred to food as 'batteries' and would smash lightbulbs whenever he was upset."

Tune in now.

'Esc' will be released on June 30th – pre-order LINK.
