American fans of Pete Doherty can hear the singer’s new solo album for free online, over a week before ‘Grace/Wastelands’ goes on sale.
As a singer with The Libertines, Doherty played a number of high profile dates in America. The photos from their show at the soon to be demolished CBGBs venue are now iconic, with the group still showing a youthful glow.
The singer has been working on his new solo album, which was released in the UK on Monday (March 16th). Inspired by folk styles the record sees Doherty reach for his acoustic, recruiting Graham Coxon to aid him.
Also making a guest appearance on the album is acclaimed singer Dot Allison who sings on the track ‘Sheepskin Tearaway’. Other members of Babyshambles such as Mik Whitnall, Adam Ficek and Drew McConnell are also on the album.
Producer Stephen Street focussed the results, using his experience to hone Doherty’s often whimsical recording techniques. Of course, fans in Britain heard the album first on ClashMusic, after we streamed three tracks exclusively on the site!
Users in America have had to wait until now to hear the album. It is available to stream on Pete Doherty’s Myspace page right now.
