A painting by the former hot couple of celebrity culture Pete Doherty and Kate Moss is set to fetch between £30,000 and £40,000 at auction, it has emerged.
The painting features a self-portrait by Moss in lipstick, while Doherty has inscribed the canvas in his own blood. Although it is not signed by either would-be artist, the 48inch by 36inch creation contains the words “Who needs blood when you’ve got lipstick?”.
The painting was purchased from Doherty’s private collection, and comes with a receipt written by the singer on a napkin. Painted around 2005 / 2006, the canvas originally cost just £15, according to reports.
A blood painting done by Doherty on his own is also up for auction on the same day, and is estimated at between £8,000 and £10,000.
The auction will take place at the Lyon & Turnbull auction rooms on September 27th.
