Former Libertine and current singer with Babyshambles Pete Doherty has been ordered to pay a photographer £1000 in compensation, it has emerged.
The singer smashed the lens of the camera after losing his temper at a member of the paparazzi. The photographer, Catherine Mead, pursued Doherty while the songwriter was enjoying a day out in the Somerset countryside.
Doherty was due to return to rehab the next day – which may, in part, explain his reaction. The sentencing took place in Yeovil Magistrates Court – only a few days after Doherty skipped the initial hearing and was rewarded with an arrest notice.
Doherty was ordered by the court to pay £918.27 in compensation to the photographer and £100 costs.
