Ah, techno twitter. Social media has a way of robbing our lives of nuance, affording meaning to every single aspect, while simultaneously robbing it of context. Take this new DJ Seinfeld edit of Burial’s ‘Archangel’ – it went from a fun portion of his Boiler Room set, to viral infamy, to becoming a 24 hour talking point in the dance music twitter-sphere.
Here it is.

Virtually everyone seemed to have an opinion on the edit, with equal parts of favour and dislike being heaped in his direction. At first, DJ Seinfeld seemed to play with it:

The negativity began to get on top of the producer, however. In a note, DJ Seinfeld attempted to explain what he was aiming for – “it’s just an edit I made for myself to play out…”
He added: “Go listen and enjoy Burial.”
Citing – perhaps incorrectly – the work of writer Mark Fisher, he finished: “If you’re offended by this log off and listen to ‘Untrue'”.

With the internet closing in around him, DJ Seinfeld decided to share the edit in full.
