Special edition trainer announced

What do you do when you’re the hottest property in dance-hip-hop hybrid land? You release your own pair of sneakers, obviously.

Dizzee Rascal teamed up with long term creative collaborator, artist Ben Drury, who has also done the artwork for Dizzee’s albums. The “Tongue and Cheek” Air Max 90. The “Tongue and Cheek” Air Max 90 shoe will be launched on Friday the 18th at Nike’s 1948 store in Shoreditch.

The shoes are going to be a very exclusive item once they’re sold out, as only a very limited number – barely more than 100 will be available. After the shoe launch it will only be available at Nike’s 1948 store. All proceeds will go to Tower Hamlets summer University.

Says Dizzee Rascal of his creation: “The Air Max 90 is pretty much the street shoe, ‘innit? It’s quite sporty, but when you get the right colours you can wear it with anything. But with this one we tried to keep it quite plain so it could complete any outfit. It’s functional and there was a pretty deep design process involved”.”

Dizzee Rascal’s debut album ‘Boy in da Corner’, won him the 2003 Mercury Prize. His fourth and latest album ‘Tongue N' Cheek’ has already spawned three number one hits, Dance Wiv Me’, ‘Bonkers’ and new single ‘Holiday’.
