Dizzee Rascal Hits Top Spot

Chart Run Down - June 7th

Dizzee Rascal’s controversial new collaboration with Calvin Harris “Dance Wiv Me” has hit number one in the latest UK chart, it has been announced.

In a top ten almost entirely barren of your favourite Clash artists, Colplay managed to stand firm against the onslaught with their single “Viva La Vida” – down to number seven this week. Two of this year’s biggest success stories battle it out further down the charts with Duffy’s “Warwick Avenue” and The Ting Tings’ “That’s Not My Name” at number 12 and 13 respectively. Interestingly, both artists have two singles in the Top 40.

Further down the charts Brooklyn space cadets MGMT sit comfortably at number 22 with their summer anthem “Electric Feel”. Finally, the Glastonbury effect can now be seen on the singles chart due to the introduction of downloads – Jay Z’s “99 Problems” has snuck back into the charts at 35.

The album chart proves to be interesting reading with Coldplay reigning supreme at number one with “Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends”. Duffy follows at number two, with Neil Diamond cresting a Glastonbury inspired wave of popularity at number 4. Further down the chart Eddy Grant is at 14 with his “Very Best Of” – go on, you love him really! Finally, it’s bad news for Dirty Pretty Things as their latest effort flops into the charts at a paltry number 35…
