Grunge pioneers Dinosaur Jr have been forced to recall copies of their new album ‘Farm’ – because it’s just too loud.
Dinosaur Jr formed in the mid 80s as a way for three kids to let off steam. Inspired by hardcore punk, under the influence of lead singer J Mascis the band began to include elements of classic rock artists such as Neil Young.
With their slacker attitude and dismissive slant on established rock sounds the band helped invent the grunge genre – hell, they even wore checked Trucker shirts. However all good things come to an end, with the original line up fragmenting after just three albums.
Reforming in 2007, the original line up of Dinosaur Jr immediately began working on new material. Releasing their new album ‘Beyond’ soon after, the trio proved that while time had put a little grey into their hair, it had not stopped their furious rock sound.
Working on a follow up, the band released their new album ‘Farm’ earlier this year. A stunning return, you can read ClashMusic’s view by clicking HERE!
However it seems that the band’s love of volume has become their undoing. In a new statement Dinosaur Jr have announced the withdrawal of their new album, due to a small audio problem.
While duplicating the original master for release in Europe, the software program used ‘doubled’ the sound layers. This resulted in a 3dB increase in the overall sound volume.
All of which means that the new Dinosaur Jr is pretty damn loud, even by their standards. Anyone who has bought a copy of the album with the bar code number 5414939004926 can exchange their copy by clicking HERE!
In a one word statement Dinosaur Jr confirmed that they are “bummed’ about the sound problems. Eager to make amends to fans, the trio are set to offer a free download ringtone of their single ‘Over It’.
On the bright side, Dinosaur Jr are set to visit British shores soon, so fans can bask in the glory of their new album. The group have confirmed the following dates:
