Dhruv Unveils Debut Album ‘Private Blizzard’

He'll support Jordan Rakei on his European tour this September.

British-born singer-songwriter Dhruv has today released his debut album, ‘Private Blizzard’, via Little Worry/RCA Records.

‘Private Blizzard’ comes two years after Dhruv’s last project ‘rapunzel, and features new single ‘One and Only’ alongside previously-released tracks ‘Grieving’,Speed of Light, ‘How?’ and ‘Tragedy’.

Recorded in Nashville with in-demand Grammy-nominated producer JT Daly (Noah Kahan, Bully, Benson Boone), ‘Private Blizzard’ sees Dhruv exploring the full gamut of emotions he felt as he set out to make an expansive collection of songs from a place of artistic freedom. The album is an expression of the tide changes in Dhruv’s life, framing sometimes knotty experiences with identity and queerness through jazz-imbued pop songs that seek to affirm and inspire.

“When I was in high school and felt completely alone in my queerness, music held my hand and saw me through my private blizzard,” Dhruv says. “In this latest period of life, which has been turbulent in different ways, I have again found a sense of rootedness in making songs. No matter how far I stray, it’s what it has always come back to. I’m so grateful for what this album has done for me and so happy for it to be out in the world.”

Dhruv’s musical output is influenced in part by his diasporic origin story. Of Indian descent, he was born in London, raised in Singapore whilst also spending some years in the US. His fascination with music began with the Bollywood soundtracks he’d hear at his grandmother’s house. After years of writing songs privately, he put his studies at Yale on hold to make a go of music in earnest from his bedroom.

Dhruv will support Jordan Rakei on a European tour commencing this September. He recently played a show supporting Stray Kids at London’s BST Hyde Park, following sold-out headline shows in Los Angeles and London in May.
