Devo To Sue McDonalds

Concern Over Image Infringement

American new wave icons Devo are set to go to war with McDonalds, claiming that a new Happy Meal toy infringes on their copyrighted stage appearance.

The fast food chain recently released a series of “American Idol” toys, which aim to celebrate different genres and periods of American music. Alongside Disco Dave and Country Clay was one New Wave Nigel – who bore an uncanny resemblance to Devo’s onstage garb.

The band are famous for wearing orange uniforms, strangely-designed glasses and an “energy dome” on their heads. The new toy closely resembles the “energy dome”, and the figure is clad in an orange uniform. Of course, there are those who claim that Devo merely stuck a plant pot on their head to begin with, but what do they know?

The band are infuriated by McDonald’s actions, and are quoted by the Australian Associated Press as saying “We’re in the midst of suing them…they didn’t ask us anything. Plus, we don’t like McDonald’s, and we don’t like ‘American Idol’, so we’re doubly offended.”

Looks like Ronald’s had his chips!
