Demae’s ‘Speechless’ Offers Poised Soul

Her rise continues...

Rising UK soul artist Demae impresses on new single ‘Speechless’.

The singer hails from North West London, and became entranced by music at a young age. The past few months have born witness to a flurry of releases, impactful soul statements that act as a barometer of her blossoming artistry.

Raised in Harlesden, she’s speaking to the world – drawing on everything from Madlib’s left-field hip-hop production to glossy pop as an influence.

‘Speechless’ comes from the heart, with Demae tapping into the full-blown rush of initial attraction. Gossamer of vocal, refulgent in its arrangement, ‘Speechless’ feels like true honey for the ears, an enticing, engaging offering replete with potential.

She says…

I’ve always loved adding my own light hearted humour to songwriting because I think it also reflects me as a person. I wanted ‘Speechless’ to encapsulate that sudden gut wrench feeling of butterflies you get when you realise your falling hard.

I had the opportunity to work with Fatima on this and we had the most fun messing around with concepts in my room and free styling. I want the listener to go through the motions with me in this song all this tension building up only to have the final exhale of relief in the last few moments of the song. I really hope this could be someone’s soundtrack to them falling in love.

Tune in now.
