Deerhunter EP Due

Atlanta group announce new material

Celebrated American rock outfit Deerhunter are set to release a new EP titled ‘Rainwater Cassette Exchange’.

Deerhunter hail from Atlanta, Georgia and have now outgrown their ‘cult curiosity’ status with celebrated new album ‘Microcastle’. Formed by singer Brandford Cox the group’s noise rock material has gradually been honed, with their recent album being perhaps their biggest success to date.

The group are famed for the frequency of their releases, with ‘Microcastle’ coming bundled with a bonus disc of out-takes. Soon after this the band booked time in a studio to lay down the songs that would become the cassette only release ‘On Platts Eyott’.

Kept to a strictly limited edition of two hundred, the release was followed by a period of silence from Deerhunter. In a message to fans they revealed that Whitney Petty is no longer a member of the band, saying “Whitney is what you would call a ‘free spirit.’ She’s also a great friend. Deerhunter is the four of us. We might have people come and go and that’s just how we keep things interesting for ourselves.”

The forthcoming EP is the first material the group have worked on since Petty’s departure. Released first as a download on May 18th, Deerhunter will then release the EP as a CD and 12 inch vinyl release on June 8th.

The material was recorded with Nicolas Verhes at Rare Book Room studios in Brooklyn earlier this year.

Deerhunter will release their new EP ‘Rainwater Cassette Exchange’ soon. Tracklisting as follows:

1. Rainwater Cassette Exchange
2. Disappearing Ink
3. Famous Last Words
4. Game of Diamonds
5. Circulation
