Debby Friday has laid out plans for new album ‘Good Luck’.
The Toronto based multi-hyphenate was born in Nigeria, and there’s a refreshing, boundary-less quality to her riveting electronic pop constructions. New album ‘Good Luck’ presents her vision in widescreen, and it lands on March 24th through Sub Pop.
The project is trailed via bold new single ‘So Hard To Tell’, an emphatic demonstration of her vivid originality. The dramatic vocal isn’t enhanced by studio trickery – it’s pure, 100% natural talent.
Debby Friday comments…
“I have a lower register and speak with vocal fry so I don’t know what came over me when I made this track. I have never in my life sung like this before and I had no idea I could even make these kinds of sounds with my voice. There’s no pitch effects on ‘SO HARD TO TELL,’ it’s all me.”
The stylised visuals are online now, a superb demonstrate of Debby Friday’s cross-platform aesthetic. Co-directed by Kevan Funk and Debby Friday herself, you can check out the video below.
