Dead Weather Television Debut

Jack White's group continue assault

Jack White’s much talked about new project The Dead Weather are due to make their television debut in the United States later this week.

The Dead Weather have been one of the most talked about new groups of the year so far. Containing an all star cast, Jack White stunned fans by unveiling the group at a secret showcase in Nashville as the New Year broke.

The band line up with Jack White being joined by Alison Mosshart of The Kills as well as members of Queens Of The Stone Age and The Greenhornes. So far, little has been heard of the group who played only a handful of times in the public.

Debut single ‘Treat Me Like Your Mother’ was released on seven inch earlier this year, through Jack White’s Third Man imprint. Named after the movie, Third Man has grown to become a respected independent in its own right – to the extent whereby Jack White was invited to sit on a special Nashville panel devoted to the music industry.

The single came backed with a sizzling cover of ‘Are Friends Electric?’ by Gary Numan, with Jack White clearly keen to indulge his electro fix.

The Dead Weather are due to make their television debut later this week on ‘The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien’. O’Brien is a newcomer to the show, having helmed a rival show for over a decade.

The host is a good friend of Jack White, with The White Stripes having once been invited to play a week long residency on his former show. When O’Brien decided to leave for The Tonight Show, The White Stripes reformed for their first public appearance in over a year, performing a classic track.

Jack White’s new band are due to continue their assault on the United States tomorrow night (June 17th) with a show in Los Angeles at the Roxy Theatre.

Fans of White’s other groups need not despair. The guitarist’s partner in crime in The Raconteurs Brendan Benson is due to release a new solo album, no doubt containing another collection of refreshing power pop anthems.

The White Stripes meanwhile, are due to begin work on a film documenting their 2007 tour of Canada. New material could also be in the offing, with the group set to return to the studio late in the year.

The Dead Weather release their new album ‘Horehound’ later this summer.
