DC Shoes are set to bring their unique art exhibition Burning Ink to London for a new event.
Art exhibitions tend to follow the same old routine. Rich denizens turn up, peruse the pretty pictures, drink wine and nibble cheese before taking their swag home with them.
For DC Shoes, though, this doesn’t seem to be good enough. Burning Ink is a new concept, which unites tattoo design with the loose concept of an art gallery – oh, and a solid dose of pyromania.
Hitting the Beach Gallery in London, the new Burning Ink event runs between March 13th – 31st. Running in partnership with Kids love Ink Custom Tattooing owned by the very talented Charlie Shazer, the exhibition brings together a series of world-renowned street artists, graphic designers and illustrators.
The catch? Well the Burning Ink exhibition will bring together some unique, specially commissioned designs… and then burn them.
The hand made drawings will be destroyed, meaning that the only way you can retain the design is by having it tattooed onto your body – removing the need for an end of exhibition scrum in the process.
Previous editions of Burning Ink have included the following artists: Ssur, SBTG, Jeykill, Supakitch, Koralie, Xghetto666, Prunelle, Scien+Klor & Dean (123klan), Marok, Spoe, Jef & Kostek @La Boucherie Moderne, Chloe Trujillo and more… curated by Erwann Lameignère.
In the past, Burning Ink has been held in in Paris at Jeykill’s ‘Bleu Noir’, while New York’s Burning Ink took place in Frank’s Chop Shop and Berlin’s instalment popped up in MadeMyDay.
Burning Ink runs between March 13th – 31st at the Beach Gallery in London.
