Day Wave has shared new single ‘As You Are’.
The LA dream pop artist takes care of every facet of his art, from the initial notes to the final mix. Last year’s excellent ‘Pastlife’ full length saw Day Wave move his music in different directions, boasting a gust turn from Kenny Hoopla.
New single ‘As You Are’ taps into his bedrock, a beautiful piece of blissed out guitar pop with just a hint of lyrics. “I guess it’s up to my to change,” he sings, “At least, that’s what I tell myself…”
A song about a relationship that has reached a state of dysfunction, there’s a push and pull to the songwriting, with Day Wave reflecting on love, and what it takes to make something work.
He says…
“It’s about a relationship unravelling, and the moment you realise that neither person is willing to change to make it work. The song took a while to fully come to fruition. I had been playing the chord progression over and over again for months before I actually wrote the song over it.”
Tune in now.
