David Shrigley is set to chair next year's instalment of Brighton Festival.
The south coast event has a heavy music component, with previous directors including Kate Tempest, Laurie Anderson, and Brian Eno.
David Shrigley will oversee 2018's festival, and it promises to be something special – a renowned visual artist, he's also been heavily involved with underground music.
The illustrator comments:
“The great thing about Brighton Festival is that you see things that are really thrilling and wonderful that you've never heard of before. What I'm looking forward to about the role of Guest Director is having the opportunity to not only see a lot of stuff and programme stuff but also make some artwork myself and have it presented in the place where I live. I think it's a really nice way to communicate with people, to meet people and to invite people to come to Brighton.”
Taking place next summer, the festival will contain new work from David Shrigley alongside a raft of specially commissioned pieces.
Brighton Festival 2018 runs between May 5th – 27th.
