David Gray Torture Method

Singer Blasts US Army

British singer David Gray has slammed the US army after it was revealed that his song “Babylon” is reportedly used when questioning suspects in Iraq and other US bases.

The US army frequently use loud music during questioning, a practice that some commentators have labeled as close to torture. As well as Iraq, this process is used when questioning suspects in other US bases such as Guantanamo Bay.

Whilst the use of David Gray’s music in a torture method lends itself quite neatly to comedy, it should be underlined that this is a very serious matter. As the singer himself told BBC Radio 4 Tonight:

“What we’re talking about here is people in a darkened room, physically inhibited by handcuffs, bags over their heads and music blaring at them… That is nothing but torture”.

David Gray: an unlikely hero, but Clashmusic.com feels he deserves a special mention.
