David Bowie’s ‘Hunky Dory’ album will be re-assessed on lavish new ‘Divine Symmetry’ box set.

The incoming box set traces the path Bowie took to the 1971 classic and beyond, featuring a raft of home demos, radio sessions, live recordings, and more. ‘Divine Symmetry’ looks to be the definitive word on this period of the chameleonic performer’s work, and closes with a fresh mix of ‘Hunky Dory’ by original co-producer Ken Scott.

Alongside the raft of rarities and unheard material, the box set also features a 100-page hardback book featuring exclusive memorabilia and photos alongside a 60-page replica composite of Bowie’s notebooks from the era.

Bowie expert Tris Penna pens the sleeve notes, tracing a formative year in the star’s life: signing to RCA, embracing fatherhood, and joining forces with Mick Ronson, Woody Woodmansey and Trevor Bolder – the band who would become the Spiders From Mars.

A take on ‘Kooks’ – recorded by Bowie and guitarist Mick Ronson for the BBC’s Sounds Of The 70s presented by Bob Harris – is available now.
