David Bowie reportedly turned down Danny Boyle's request to use his work in a proposed musical.
The director makes the claims in a new interview with the Radio Times (via the Guardian) and claims he was left “in grief” by Bowie's refusal.
The refusal nonetheless left Boyle “very keen to direct a musical” and he has poured his efforts into a new project based on the life of Steve Jobs.
In a separate interview, Danny Boyle explained that: “It’s a wonderful script, by Frank Cottrell Boyce. It’s a sort of musical, but we couldn’t get the music rights … So, we had to put it away for the moment.”
David Bowie will release his new album 'Blackstar' in January.
