Dave Grohl Working With Queens Of The Stone Age

Joey Castillo departs

Dave Grohl is set to step into the drummer's stool for new recording sessions with Queens Of The Stone Age.

Queens Of The Stone Age have never seemed like the most sedate, steady of groups. True rock 'n' roll mavericks, the American band's line up has fluctuated over the years with internal division driving them to greater heights. Now drummer Joey Castillo has left the band.

Speaking to Zane Lowe on Radio 1, frontman Josh Homme revealed that the percussionist would be departing for pastures new with none other than Dave Grohl stepping in as a replacement. Famously the nicest guy in rock, the drummer has a long association with the band.

Dave Grohl recorded drum parts for 'Songs For The Deaf' before joining Queens Of The Stone Age for a number of feral, dramatic, inspiring shows. Posting an image on Twitter, Queens Of The Stone Age confirmed the news.
