Norwegian synth-rockers Datarock have unveiled the video to their new single – composed entirely out of Talking Heads song titles.
As far as fan worship goes, this may be a little extreme. Datarock returned earlier this year with their new album ‘Red’, a party rocking combination of post-punk and electro-house that got 2009 off to a banging start.
The Norwegian duo are set to release their new single ‘The Pretender’ later in the year, with their latest video to the track ‘True Stories’ intended as a stop-gap. However the song contains some unique lyrics – made up entirely of Talking Heads song titles.
Talking Heads have received some tributes before, with Radiohead notably nabbing a song title for a band name. However Datarock have gone one further and stolen loads of different titles in order to write a new song.
‘True Stories’ namechecks some of the band’s best known and more obscure tracks, in a three minute fan letter to an enduringly influential group. Founded by David Byrne in the mid 70s Talking Heads were always much to funky to be labelled punk.
A series of albums with Brian Eno resulted in some of the band’s best known tracks, including the much-sampled ‘Once In A Lifetime’. The band’s concert documentary ‘Stop Making Sense’ soon followed, before Talking Heads finally spluttered to a half in the early 90s.
The band’s legacy can only live on, however, with tributes such as this. To watch the video for ‘True Stories’ click HERE!
Datarock’s new track ‘True Stories’ has the following lyrics:
Born Under Punchs
Crosseyed And painless
Slippery People
I’m Not In Love
Houses In Motion
A Road To Nowhere
Once In A Lifetime
I’m Not In Love
Don’t Worry About The Government
The Democratic Circus
Cause Mommy Daddy You and I
Are Burning Down The House
Psycho Killer
Radiohead
Television Man
I’m Not In Love
Puzzling Evidence
Seen And Not Seen
This Must Be The Place
I’m Not In Love
Don’t Worry ‘Bout The Government
The Democratic Circus
Cause Mommy Daddy You and I
Are Burning Down The House
I Get wild
Wild Gravity
Wild Wild Life
The Big Country
Don’t Worry ‘Bout The Government
The Democratic Circus
Cause Mommy Daddy You and I
Are Burning Down The House
I Get Wild
Wild Gravity
Wild Wild Life
The Big Country
