Dark Night Of The Soul – Release Date

More details confirmed

The long-standing saga over Dark Night Of The Soul is set to be ended with news of the album’s release.

Chaired by Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse singer Mark Linkous, ‘Dark Night Of The Soul’ is one of the most talked about projects of recent times. Containing a raft of guest stars and collaborations, the album was controversially shelved by EMI.

Due to be released as a vast multimedia project, ‘Dark Night Of The Soul’ slipped out via peer-to-peer sites and was not given an official release.

Since then, lengthy negotiations between Danger Mouse and the label have resulted in news of a legitimate release. ‘Dark Night Of The Soul’ is due to be released on July 12th in the United Kingdom.

The album will be dedicated to Vic Chesbutt, who died in December 2009. Featuring a total of thirteen tracks, the material was co-written by Sparklehorse singer Mark Linkous – who committed suicide earlier this year.

Now the album is set to get an official release. ‘Dark Night Of The Soul’ was actually released last year without any music. Instead, fans received a picture book featuring photographs taken by David Lynch alongside a blank CD.

“I told Mark (Linkous) that we’d worked things out with EMI back in January and he was very happy that the album was finally going to be released this year,” Danger Mouse said in a statement.

“Mark meant a great deal to a lot of people and I’m grateful to have made music with him and to be a part of his legacy.”

‘Dark Night Of The Soul’ is due to be released on July 12th.
